What Is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system which trains licensed providers in the diagnosis, treatment and continued care of acute and chronic health conditions. Integrating modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural healing methods addresses the root cause of dysfunction, and approaches the person as a whole; mind, body and spirit with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention, as well as supporting the body’s innate capacity to heal. Naturopathic doctors support your individualized path to health and wellbeing.
A Naturopathic Doctors can help you with:
- treating chronic conditions
- listening to what no one else has
- using the healing power of nature
- giving each patient the tools they need to succeed
- offering support for all types of health concerns
- improving your quality of life
About Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic doctors focus on health and wellness, moving away from a symptom-based model of disease-care and towards a patient-centered model of health-care. We look at the whole picture of what makes you you, and find ways to support and guide you that fit your life. Whatever your obstacles, you can overcome them.
The Principles of Naturopathic Medicine
- Do no harm
- The healing power of nature
- Identify and treat the cause
- Doctor as teacher
- Treat the whole person
What to expect
Your first appointment with a Naturopathic Doctor will be a thorough and detailed assessment, including health history and relevant physical exams. Taking all this information into account, a safe and effective treatment plan will be developed to address your individual needs. This will consider mental/emotional, spiritual and physical needs so that you are treated as whole person. At the base of Naturopathic treatment are diet and lifestyle changes to build a solid foundation for health. Your individualized plan may also include botanical prescriptions, acupuncture, physical adjustments, nutraceutical supplements, homeopathy, or lab testing where indicated.

As a chef and Naturopathic Doctor I have a unique set of skills to help you find your way to a diet that fits for you. I believe in the power of functional foods, the wisdom of plants and the benefits of eating intuitively. Tuning in to the body’s wisdom not only makes you feel better, you become more comfortable in your skin as your body is getting the nourishment it craves and changes to your body’s natural weight. This isn’t about calorie counting or having extreme diets to quickly alter your body composition; this is about making lasting changes to what and how you eat so that it becomes a sustainable lifestyle.
Things that can affect appetite/cravings/weight;
- hormonal dysfunction
- chronic stress
- eating a SAD diet (Standard American Diet)
- excess consumption of processed foods
- eating according to societal cues instead of true hunger cues
- nutritional deficiencies
Reconnecting with your body and the foods that nourish you is a life-changing endeavor that will make you feel better than you could have ever imagined. Ready to change your life? I’m here to help.
